Do you hear the people sing?.... Well do ya?

Okay, okay... I know the quality of this video is a wee bit fuzzy, but I just had to post it.  This is Anthony Warlow as Enjolras in the 1989 Australia Day Les Miserables Concert (ABC Cafe, Red and Black, and Do You Hear the People Sing?).  We first stumbled across this some time last year while falling down the respective YouTube rabbit holes, as it were, of Les Mis performance videos and Anthony Warlow videos, and somehow always end up coming back to it after any disappointing YouTube wandering.

I'll probably receive some hate for saying this, but here 'tis:  Anthony Warlow is the bomb, and I'm convinced he's the best Enjolras I've ever heard.  Just need to get that off my chest.

A brief analysis:

The "students" are all balding, or have mullets.  Fabulous.

     - 1:17 -  *captivated Grantaire face*  About to come back to haunt him...

     - 1:20-1:30 -  Marius is really into this role, methinks.

     - 1:40 & 1:53 -  *over confident Grantaire face* He's feeling good about this performance.  Wait for it...

     - 2:06-2:53 -  Warlow's complete and utter control of and the power in his voice is just flat out amazing.  He adds so much detail to his performances.

     - 2:52 -  Did you hear that little bit of a emphasis "shriek/twang" in the end of that note?  *Delighted shiver*

     - 2:55-3:20 -  Marius being captivating again. He is seriously into this role.

     - 3:20 -  Student with the glasses whips around, utterly horrified.  Grantaire has forgotten his line, thanks to Marius' captivating performance.  Finally, he wakes up and manages to growl out an "......errr....red!".

     - 3:26 -  Student with the glasses utterly baffled and obviously peeved.  Something still isn't right.  He's still getting it wrong.

     - 3:34 -  Grantaire is incredulous as student with glasses leans into him, showing him how. this. is. done.

     - 3:40-3:57 -  Warlow seems above all these shenanigans, still amazing.

     - 3:58 -  Now both the students flanking Grantaire have revoked all of his personal space rights.

     - 4:58 -  Why, oh why did they have to cut this out of the movie?  Potentially the best line from the whole musical.

     - 7:06 -  Smirky face on the far left. =>

I dare you to watch this video and not laugh.  Even if you don't, Anthony Warlow's Enjolras is completely worth watching at least once.  It's definitely become a favorite around here.
